Innovation in Industrial Carbon Capture Conference 2020

LEILAC Pilot Plant

LEILAC (Low Emissions Intensity Lime And Cement) will pilot a breakthrough technology that has the potential to enable both Europe’s cement and lime industries to reduce their emissions dramatically while retaining, or even increasing international competitiveness.

The best available technologies for cement and lime have no carbon capture capability.  The international and EU community recognises that CO2 emissions contribute to climate change, and the most practical approach to reducing such emissions to-date for the cement and lime industries has been to increase kiln efficiencies and utilise alternative fuels.

Organised by the EU-Horizon 2020 funded project LEILAC (Low Emissions Intensity Lime and Cement) Consortium, the Innovation in Industrial Carbon Capture Conference 2020 will bring together the latest knowledge in the industrial application of carbon capture technology and how it aligns with CCU and CCS-roadmaps.

Two years on from the inaugural LEILAC-Conference in 2018, a lot has happened. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have released their latest findings urging for action, governments within the EU are converting EU-targets into national targets and roadmaps to decarbonizing industry. The LEILAC project has also progressed on time and under budget, with testing now commencing following the ribbon cutting ceremony in May 2019.

This conference aims to create a platform to share learnings from the pilot and exchange key thoughts in Industrial Carbon Capture with fellow experts, stakeholders and industry leaders. Updates on other industrial developments in CCUS will complete the picture.

The exchange of ideas will be facilitated through a combination of engaging keynote speakers, lively panel discussions and interactive workshops with a split lunch-to-lunch format, allowing plenty of time for networking during the day and evening.
